Great British Koi Club
The Great British Koi Club (GBKC) has been formed following the demise of The British Koi-Keepers Society of which the Yorkshire Section of the BKKS (YSBKKS) was one of many sections of the BKKS around the country. Based in Yorkshire, the aim of our club is to promote and encourage the hobby of Koi Keeping within Yorkshire and surrounding counties (and increasingly to a membership that is based throughout the United Kingdom) and to help fellow members where possible.
Please bear with us while we bring this website up to date. There will almost certainly be continuing references to the YSBKKS but read these as referring to GBKC while we manage the change to our new name.
You will need to log-in or register for our Forum to view photos and videos in the Gallery.
Annual Membership Just £20
We are a happy and friendly bunch of people with only the well-being of Koi in mind so if you would like to join us, please visit the ‘Join Our Club‘ page for further details.
GBKC Membership includes access to our Help and Advice WhatsApp group which is an active place for topical chat and one which new members’ have found to be worth the cost of membership without taking into account the other benefits of becoming a member.
During May to September we meet at members’ ponds for a social get-together. These offer great opportunities for an exchange of ideas so why not come along and get to know us better and make new friends?
Club meetings are usually held at 7 pm on the first Tuesday of February, March, April, October and November at The Loyal Trooper, 29 Sheffield Rd, South Anston, Sheffield S25 5DT.
Please contact us before travelling as we may have arranged an online meeting via Microsoft Teams in place of a physical meeting at The Loyal Trooper.
Update for 2026
The annual membership fee continues at £20 for year commencing 1st March 2026 when this becomes due for existing members. Please note that subsidised event pricing will only apply to fully paid-up members.
